WarDrive for Zombie Apocalypse

STATUS: This research is currently in progress...

Goal: Recon places you frequent and learn where Wifi APs are located.

Practical Applications: In case of emergency, a localized power outage or a zombie attack, you will know where to go to get internet access for resources and survival info.

Materials: an Android cell phone, G-Mon App, Google Earth

2011.09202: After using G-Mon for a few days, I discovered that when the KLM file is uploaded to Google Earth, it does not really show the SSID names until you click them.  They also appear as small dots on the map.   I've switched to Wigle, and I like the KLM file it produces a whole lot better than G-Mon.  Plus, it is able to plot the cell towers also.  The only thing is that, it seems like G-Mon's signal was a lot better than Wigle as it was able to pickup more Wifi APs.  For now, I think a combination of both is warranted but I will be using wigle for a few days.  We'll see what gives....

UnRooted Wifi Recon w/ Android

STATUS: This research is currently in progress...

2011.0914: Here's a work in progress and I will blog my discoveries as they come.  The plan is to use an unrooted Android to perform Wifi recon in public networks using free apps readily available in the Android market.  Why? you ask.  To prove that most wifi users, devices and application developers (social networks) still send out too much info in the air.

Take note that this is an EXPERIMENT! Epic Fail is totally a possibility.  I will summarise all my findings at the end and put it in a step-by-step format.  These are my research notes (since i lose most of them if I write it down on paper).  Feel free to shoot me some suggestions and help.  Let us begin.
